Measuring brain blood flow by counting the uptake of radioisotope (radiating gamma ray) into the brain after intravenous injection.

Drugs being used in our hospital now are 123I-IMP(N-isopropyl-123I-p-iodoamphetamine) and 99mTc-HM-PAO(99mTc-d,l-hexamethyl-propyleneamine oxime).
Also, we examine how much the brain blood flow increases when diamox, a drug which dilates brain arteries, is injected intravenously. Measurement of brain blood flow show us functional aspects of the brain which we can not get by CT and MRI.
